“Had a great stay! The staff was great and very helpful, especially Jean Pierre. However I think the food subject was not to clear in the booking nor in the messages from the host. Stated breakfast and lunch was included but did not state you needed to purchase the food in advance. Overall we enjoyed our time and location.”
James
“This place was a dream. From the fresh coconut water on arrival, I knew we were going to have a memorable experience. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Fresh meals prepped everyday was a great way to really soak in every moment at the property. I’ve never stayed at such an interesting and hand crafted property. Every nook and cranny was intentional from the plants to the decor. Each bungalow offered something unique and charming. The beds were insanely comfortable, or if you prefer outdoor sleeping, hammocks were hanging outside of each bedroom. I absolutely loved the outside showers. I’ve never experienced that before but there’s something special about bathing under moonlight with plants surrounding you that makes for a magical experience. The nearby beach was a pleasant walk (about 10-15 minutes) and was spectacular. It was very private & peaceful with crystal clear water and clean sand. I would 100% revisit Casa Taina and recommend it to friends & family!”

“This place was everything we expected and more. such a beautiful and serene environment. we felt safe and at home. Michael the host was quick to respond to any questions we had, he was very attentive and accommodating. As well as his staff, Nati and Leo which made us feel so welcomed. just an all around great experience, I give it an A++ in every aspect and we will be returning. one last thing we were all in agreement at how affordable it was. Such a beautiful country and what a gem we found in it!”

I’ve crashed on sofas across the world, but this corner of the DR keeps pulling me back. Nagua isn’t full of tourists taking selfies – it’s the real Dominican Republic where locals still say hello and nobody rushes.
The beaches? Clear blue water that stays warm all year – about 80-84°F even in winter. Just a 5-minute walk from the property, you’ll find Playa Miguelito, where you might be the only person there all day. The sand feels just right between your toes, and the water gets deep slowly, making it perfect for swimming.
Want more action? Pinal de Baoba is 5 minutes by car with food stands serving fresh fish and cold beers. On Fridays, local people sometimes play music as the sun sets.

What I love most is how this place sits right between adventure and total relaxation. One day you’re hiking through forests where the air feels fresh and full of life, the next you’re laying in a
hammock watching birds dive for fish.
Nearby you can find waterfalls (45 minutes away), caves (a day trip by boat), and secret swimming spots that tourists don’t know about.

This isn’t like Punta Cana with its big resorts and gift shops. Nagua shows you the real Dominican Republic – where fishermen bring their catch to local restaurants, where music plays from open windows, and where life moves at a slower pace.

Your Perfect Day at Casa Taina

Your Perfect Day at Casa Taina
Morning starts slowly – the way it should on vacation. You wake up naturally to sunlight coming through palm leaves and the sound of waves. No alarm clocks needed.
The chef is already making breakfast with local food – maybe mashed plantains with eggs from a nearby farm, fruit that was picked yesterday, and Dominican coffee that’s better than anything you’ve had before.
You drink your coffee on your private porch while watching the sunrise over the ocean. You
might even spot dolphins from the yoga deck during your morning stretch – they swim by often between November and March.

Afternoons are yours to enjoy. Float in the pool with a book, watching birds fly overhead. Walk to the nearby beach collecting shells. Or take a quick drive to nearby waterfalls – Jean Pierre can find a local guide who knows the best swimming spots.

Dinner can be under the stars with ocean sounds as your background music. The chef can make dinner for an extra fee, or you can try local restaurants – there’s a great seafood place about 10 minutes away where they serve whatever was caught that day. If you like cooking, the kitchen has everything you need, even a blender for fresh piña coladas.

Later, you can stargaze from your hammock. With no city lights around, the night sky is amazing – you can see the Milky Way spread across the dark sky like diamonds. Casa Taina has some of the best stargazing in the Caribbean.

Think about it: How many “vacations” have you had where you still had to shop for food, cook meals, clean up, figure out what to do, and find your way around? That all goes away at Casa Taina.
You wake up to breakfast waiting. You come back from a beach trip to lunch ready. Want fresh coconut? Jean Pierre is already climbing the tree. Need tips on where to go? They know just where to send you. See a fruit you’ve never tried? The chef will cut it up and tell you how locals eat it.

What this really means: You can fully be in the moment. Not planning meals or washing dishes – just enjoying your time. The staff handles everything quietly and efficiently.
Important Note: Food and drinks cost extra. Your butler and chef will help you shop (at local markets for fresh Dominican food or at bigger grocery stores for familiar items). Then they’ll cook whatever you buy. This gives you control over your food budget while still having the luxury of meals made for you.
If you want even less to worry about, we can stock the kitchen before you arrive for an extra fee – just send your shopping list a week before you come.

Friends can take over all five bungalows like their own private resort. Each person gets their
own space, but the shared areas bring everyone together.
Morning coffee turns into a casual gathering. Some friends might hit the beach while others read by the pool. Evenings bring everyone together for sunset drinks and long dinners under the stars.
The spread-out bungalows mean early birds don’t wake up night owls. It’s the perfect mix of
together time and alone time that makes group trips work.
Great for: Bachelor/bachelorette groups, college buddies, birthday trips, friend getaways

Families
Families
Families with older kids love the setup. Parents get their space while teens get their own bungalows (and actually want to hang out). Grandparents can have the bungalow closest to the main house.
There’s enough to do to keep everyone happy but enough space so you’re not on top of each other. Kids can explore safely, parents can actually relax knowing staff are keeping watch, and different generations can find their own rhythm while still sharing meals.
The chef can make simple food for picky eaters and local dishes for adventurous eaters. Unlike a hotel, you don’t have to worry about bothering other guests.
Great for: Family reunions, multi-generation trips, families with teens

Couples trips work really well here – each couple gets their own bungalow but shares meals and sunset drinks. It’s like having private hotel rooms with the fun of a shared vacation home.
Each couple can do their own thing – adventure-filled days or just lounging by the pool. Then come together for shared meals and memories.
Great for: Multiple couples traveling together, small wedding groups, anniversary trips

The yoga deck and peaceful setting make Casa Taina perfect for small wellness retreats. The separate bungalows give personal space while common areas work for group activities.
The chef can make special diets from vegan to paleo. Jean Pierre can bring in massage therapists. And the sound of waves and birds creates the perfect backdrop for meditation.

The outdoor showers are amazing. Washing off salt water while looking up at palm trees feels magical. The water pressure is great (not always true in the Caribbean), and the design connects you to nature while keeping privacy.
The beds are super comfortable – perfect for after-beach naps. We use top-quality mattresses with soft sheets that feel just right.
Each bungalow has its own style with locally-made furniture and art, but all have a clean, simple look that lets the beach views be the star.

Casa Taina isn’t for everyone. If you need room service at 3am or towels folded into animal shapes, look elsewhere. If you want a sterile resort where everything feels like home, this isn’t your spot.
But if you want to remember what vacation should feel like – that perfect mix of adventure and doing nothing – this place delivers. Five unique bungalows, ocean right there, staff that feel like friends, and enough space to be social or disappear for hours.
What you won’t find: TVs in rooms, staff in uniforms, or buffet lines.
What you will find: Star-filled skies, waves lulling you to sleep, and the space to remember who you are when you’re not rushing through life.

“We created Casa Taina to be the opposite of modern travel—a place where you can disconnect and feel the rhythm of Dominican life. Every bungalow was built with care, every hammock placed to catch either sunrise or sunset. The property grew naturally over years, not months, with each new part fitting into the natural setting.
This isn’t fake; it’s our home that we’re sharing with people who love simple beauty and the luxury of time. We named it ‘Casa Taina’ after the native Taino people who first lived on this island – people who knew how to live in harmony with nature.
Our favorite moments here have been the simplest ones: watching birds hunt over the ocean at dawn, gathering friends for long dinners under the stars, and swimming in water so clear you can see fish around your feet. These are the experiences we hope to share with you.”

“I’ve run vacation rental sites all over the Caribbean, but Casa Taina is special. The property sells itself—our job was to capture that feeling of stepping into your own private paradise. What guests always mention is how the place is even better than they expected – the photos, as nice as they are, don’t fully show the magic of being there. We see guests booking their next stay before they even leave, which tells you everything.”

“What makes this property unique is the mix of privacy and community. Each guest has their own space, but the shared areas naturally bring people together. We designed this page to highlight those gathering spaces—the pool, the yoga deck, the dining area—while still showing what makes each bungalow special.
The hardest part was describing the service without making it sound stuffy. This isn’t formal service – it’s warm, personal attention from people who truly want you to experience the best of Dominican culture. Jean Pierre and the chef aren’t just staff; they’re the heart of Casa Taina.”
